Fact #2: Knowing what not to do is by far more important than knowing what to do.  Most would-be internet marketers never get to first base because they start off making too many costly mistakes.  If you don't have a great deal of money to invest, you can't afford to make those same mistakes. 

Fact #3: Another very crucial element of successful online marketing is your potential customers are much more likely to do business with online businesses that they already know and trust.  In other words, they want to buy from businesses that they've already bought from before.  You can completely side step this problem by developing your own list of Joint Venture Partners. They are one of the best sources of traffic that's ready to buy on the internet today. However, it's very hard for newbie's to find JV Partners because they have no idea where to look and even if they did, nobody knows them.  Knowing how to quickly develop a network of eager JV Partners means everything to you.

Fact #4: You're going to need Link Partners...a lot of them!  The more relevant Link Partners you have the more credibility you'll have online and the more paying customers you'll get.  Bonus; big search engines like Google love websites with lots of relevant links pointed in their direction.  A huge percentage of new internet marketers never get out of the starting blocks because their potential customers have no idea how to find them.  Without Link Partners, you don't exist!

Fact #5: Blogs are hot!  Blogs are the ultimate online example of the movie line "If you build it they will come."  Blogs get favorable search engine treatment and people love to read blogs.  Blogs are like reality TV on steroids.  It simply doesn't matter what you're thinking, there are thousands of people out there that share your opinion and can't get enough of you.  AND...they all seem to find you as if by magic if you know how to blog!  Talk about a marketing gold mine.  Your problem is you probably can't write and you have no idea what to write about.

Fact #6: One great online video will level the marketing playing field for you! Most marketing gurus have no idea how to use this super powerful medium and it's a wide open field right now!  Those that are properly using online marketing videos are creating fortunes virtually overnight!  Incredibly online videos are FREE to distribute once you've created your masterpiece.  You can get millions of viewers and it won't cost you a dime.  The big secret is just how easy it is to make and distribute your own powerful video that can literally bring you millions.

Fact #7: You don't have to attend a special multi-guru conference, so you can advance to the next level (some guru's $5000 super exclusive course that you just have to attend).  You don't have to become someone's protégée and then spend another $30,000 to $50,000 before you complete your apprenticeship. Although I am not knocking that route, many successful online entrepreneurs have done just that.  I want you to be aware, however, that it isn't the only way for you to earn your wings in internet marketing.

My story...

Dear Potentially Successful Online Marketer,

My name is Greg Arnold.  I'd like to take a moment to tell you my story.  In 2001, on September 11th to be exact, my 2.5 million dollar per year business began to take a nose dive right into oblivion.  Not because it was located in the World Trade Center, but because everyone in the country collectively went into shock and quit buying anything outside of bare necessities.  Our economy lost upwards of two trillion dollars over the next few short months.  For me, I lost everything.

I lived in a small remote community at the time, and at 46 I was pretty much unemployable.  It seemed to me that the only way out was through the internet.  Like you, I'd heard about the fortunes that were being made online.  I literally became an old dog in search of learning some new tricks.

Since I didn't have any money to speak of, those tricks couldn't come at too great of a price. At least not a financial price, I had lots of time to spend.  Our little community wasn't really online yet.  I thought I could start off by building websites for our local businesses.  That probably wasn't the smartest idea I ever had because I didn't have a clue how to build a website.  But I felt I could learn as I went.

Within a month I got my first customer.  I charged him $100 to build his website and $15 per month to maintain it.  I started figuring out how to do stuff as I went along by doing a lot of online searches.  Every time I had a question about how to do something, it was Google to the rescue.  Some 250 hours later my first website went live.  Working 20 hour days I got it up in less than two weeks.  I had created a forty cent (40˘) per hour job out of thin air!  I was excited!

Over the next year I accumulated 27 customers, all paying me $15 to $25 per month in maintenance fees.  I was also now charging $1000 to build a website.  I was beginning to heal financially.  In doing all that research I also learned a few Google search engine secrets along the way.  As a bonus, all of my customers were right at the top of their search engine categories.

One day an old business friend of mine visited our home for a couple days on his way to a seminar.  While he was there I proudly showed him what I was up to.  His eyes lit up when I showed him my customer's Google rankings.  He told me that I could make big dollars if I could do that for others.  I told him that as long as I was able to build all the websites from scratch that it was easy.  He suggested that I raise my fees too.  I was leery but agreed to do that for all the customers he referred to me.

The first person he referred to me didn't even blink at paying $3500 for his website and $300 per month for maintenance.  When that first referral reported back how pleased he was to my friend, he began referring more customers to me.  Within a few short months he was sending 3-4 new customers per month in my direction.  Man did he ever have influence with a lot of people.  I was back!

I freed up a lot of time by hiring a web builder and graphic designer who lived in Romania to do my web design for me.  I paid him $100 for each website he built (about a full months wages in that country). I still wrote all of the copy and did all of the search engine optimization.  I used my new found income and time to start frequenting online marketing seminars.  It cost me a small fortune over the next few years but what a profitable education I received.

Today, I no longer build websites for other people nor do I do any search engine management for others.  All of my sites are my own.  In addition, along the way I have purchased the licensing rights to hundreds of training ebooks, audios and videos.  Plus I bought full rights to several online marketing tools that really work.  Well, not all of them worked, but I throw the bad ones in the trash.  Needless to say, I earn a great deal of money selling these information products on my own personal websites.
